Mill Pond Falls
Nature
Mill Pond Falls in Newington, Connecticut, is a small natural waterfall in Mill Pond Park, locally promoted as the smallest natural waterfall in the United States. About 5 meters, or 16 feet, high, it is reached by paths around the pond and has a footbridge, observation area, gazebo, and landscaped grounds that make it part of daily town life and a setting for ceremonies and seasonal displays. The falls took their name from an 1860 sawmill powered by the water when Newington was still part of Wethersfield, and they remain a civic symbol celebrated through the annual Waterfall Festival and remembered on the town seal.
