George W. Childs Recreation Site, along Dingmans Creek in Dingmans Ferry within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, is known for the cascade waterfalls Factory Falls, Fulmer Falls, and Deer Leap Falls. It grew from publisher George William Childs's effort to create a public tourist destination after he bought land here in 1892, and Pennsylvania later established a state park on 155 acres deeded by his widow in 1912. The grounds also preserve the ruins of Joseph Brooks's woolen mill from the 1820s. After incorporation into the national recreation area in 1983, the site underwent repeated repairs, including major restoration after storm damage, and reopened in October 2024.
