This old Doodlebug was manufactured at Folsom State Prison in the Maintenance Shop of Folsom in the 1940's for use in the Lower Yard as a sturdy, powerful pulling and pushing vehicle. It had a Model A motor, a military transmission and rear end, and a very low geared four speed transmission for hauling heavy loads. It also had a Ford Model A radiator and large rear wheels from a military tug that had been used in moving airplanes around the air field. The Doodlebug was very slow, but it was very dependable in moving heavy items at Folsom.
