Hayslope, 0.4 mi. away, was built in 1785 by Col. James Roddye of North Carolina. He later served as a delegate to the North Carolina Constitutional Convention, a magistrate and register of Jefferson County under the territorial government, and a member of Tennessee's first Constitutional Convention. The house also operated as a tavern on the Kentucky Road.
