A milestone at this site on the old Dayton Western Turnpike Road gave distances to Cumberland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Dayton, and Eaton. The road opened for toll in August 1841 and provided pioneers an alternative to the National Road for travel to the western frontiers of the United States.
