Blakeslee Route honors George E. Blakeslee as a pioneer of the modern highway. Blakeslee was rededicated in September 2005 by the Friends of the Marion Section, with Patrick J. O’Melia, Hassan Abubakr, Tessie Brady, Sam C. Difeo, Mary Donnelly, Colin Egan, Dean S. Geibel, Robert and Florence Hawks, Jerramiah T. Healy, Louis M. Manzo, Bill O’Dea, Joseph and Rita Pane, Joseph A. Panepinto, Esq., L. Harvey Smith, Recycling Specialists, Burns Bros. Memorials, and Glenn D. Cunningham, 1943–2004.
