Bidwell–Sacramento River State Park occupies 349 acres along the Sacramento River at the Glenn-Butte county line in California. Established in 1979, it protects increasingly scarce riparian habitat along the river and Big Chico Creek, preserving woodland and understory that support cool-water species and a wide range of wildlife. Oaks, cottonwoods, elderberry, wild grape, blackberry, and wild rose help sustain the river corridor’s plant and animal communities. The park also provides public access to this landscape through day-use areas for hiking, picnicking, birdwatching, swimming, fishing, boating, and river floating, combining habitat conservation with recreation in a heavily altered river system.
