The Chicopee City Hall, a municipal government building designed by noted Boston architect Charles E. Parker, was patterned after the famous Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy. Its unique tower rises 147 feet high. Construction began in 1870, and dedication exercises took place on December 21, 1871. The total cost, including land and furniture, was $101,360.38. It was certified as a Chicopee Historical Landmark by the Chicopee Historical Commission in 1965.
