1
Built in 1900 of long leaf pine lumber, this home had an entry paneled in beveled leaded plate glass, and its attic served as a skating rink and gym for the children. It was occupied by Senator James H. Woods and his family from 1900 to 1931, and by his son from 1931 to 1939. Woods, who lived from 1858 to 1931, came to Corsicana from Tennessee in 1873, became a lawyer, and served as city councilman, mayor, commissioner of the fire department, director of the public library, and school trustee. He was State Representative from 1911 to 1919 and State Senator from 1919 to 1923.
