Near here, standing on a low limb of a giant oak tree, General Andrew Jackson gave a pep talk to his troops after their victory at the Battle of Horse Shoe Bend and before they advanced against the British and Spanish at Pensacola and the British at New Orleans. Victories in all these battles speak well for the rest his men enjoyed here, as well as the talk. It was probably the only occasion in Jackson's long career that he was on a low limb.
