Shongalo Church, east one hundred fifty feet from this point, was organized at Old Shongalo, one mile west, by Clinton Presbytery on August 29, 1835. Rev. A.C. Dickerson was the first minister. The present structure was completed in 1875, and its upper story was built and used by Masons.
