The Potawatomi Indian Trail, a southern branch of the old historic Ft. Wayne - Ft. Dearborn Trail, ran southwest through old Lake Station (East Gary), Liverpool, and past the Indian ceremonial grounds at Wiggins Point (Merrillville).
