On October 13th, 1998, Patrolman Chris Logsdon was killed in a vehicle crash after another driver ran him off the road while he was responding to a call about a suspected drunk driver on Interstate 25 north of Wheatland. When he arrived, the suspect vehicle was driving toward him on the wrong side of the road. Patrolman Logsdon swerved to avoid a collision, and his patrol vehicle rolled several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was later found not to be drunk but to be a 92-year-old man who was confused. Patrolman Logsdon was survived by his wife and four children.
