On Nov. 28, 1864, Jackson's division of the 20th Corps under Williams, part of Gen. Sherman's army, destroyed the railroad from Davisboro, No. 12, CRR, to Spier's Turnout (Bartow), No. 11, CRR, while Geary's division and the First Michigan Engineers destroyed the railway facilities at Davisboro and five miles of track west of that point. That night, headquarters of the 20th Corps was established in Bartow. The next day, the two infantry divisions and Michigan Engineers destroyed the track and all railway facilities from this point to the Ogeechee River, then turned north toward Louisville to rejoin the Left Wing.
