Geyser Valley trail in Olympic National Park follows the Elwha River from Whiskey Bend into a valley shaped by both natural features and human settlement. The route passes Rica Canyon, Goblins Gate, riparian forest, Krause Bottom, and old homestead clearings before reaching the historic Humes Ranch Cabin and the mouth of the Grand Canyon of the Elwha. The valley also reflects the changing history of the Elwha River: immense salmon runs were cut off when Elwha Dam was completed in 1913, blocking access to the upper river, but Chinook salmon began returning after dam removal in 2012 as part of ecosystem restoration.
