The Tomlinson Home was built in 1880 and named after Captain Thomas Tomlinson, who served as a purchasing agent for the Confederate Army and owned Tate Springs for thirty-three years before his death in 1909. This three-story, 5000 square foot house, with five bedrooms, four and half bathrooms, and five coal-burning fireplaces, was the home of Captain Tomlinson and his family until his death. His two sons and their families lived there until the resort closed in 1941. The house then stood vacant for nearly 20 years before being fully restored in 2016.
