Enlisted men received basic training at the Infantry Replacement Training Centre at Camp Roberts, California, as members of B and C Companies of the 80th Infantry Training Battalion from August 30 to November 27, 1943, and went on to fight as combat infantrymen of the 11th Armored Division in General Patton’s Third United States Army during World War II, including in the Battle of the Bulge and other historic engagements.
