Randall Shughart, a U.S. Army Special Forces sniper from Newville in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, was born in 1958 and died in 1993. Sergeant Shughart received the Medal of Honor and gave the supreme sacrifice during a rescue attempt for a downed helicopter pilot in Somalia.
