Phoebe the Flamingo, officially titled HOME, is a public sculpture in the main terminal of Tampa International Airport in Tampa, Florida. Created by American artist Matthew Mazzotta and installed in 2022, the 21-foot-tall work is made of polyester resin and fiberglass and depicts a hyperrealistic flamingo with its head and feet submerged as if wading through water. The piece draws on Florida’s association with flamingos and the debate over whether they are native to the state. Chosen from 734 international proposals and later given its nickname through a contest with more than 65,000 entries, it has become a widely photographed airport landmark and an award-winning part of the airport’s public art program.
