The Finished Fort
Military
1
No known photographs of Fort Churchill from its period of operation exist today, and knowledge of the fort's physical aspects is limited to written descriptions and one lithographic drawing. That drawing depicts adobe buildings arranged in a square around the parade ground and shows that Fort Churchill had no exterior wall or barrier, since it was intended to be a regional base of operations and supply depot rather than a defensive post. The lithographic drawing was created by American artist, cartographer, and lithographer, Grafton Tyler Brown.
