Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka is a 59-acre Florida state park built around landscaped ravines, an unusual setting in a state better known for flatter terrain. Constructed by the Works Progress Administration during the New Deal, it retains cypress buildings, rock gardens, fieldstone terraces, the Court of States, and a 64-foot obelisk dedicated to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the park is valued both as a preserved Depression-era landscape and as a public garden known for mass plantings that peak during the annual Florida Azalea Festival. It also offers trails, recreation, and gathering spaces.
