Salisbury Center Bridge in Herkimer County, New York, is a rare surviving covered road bridge built in 1875. It is the county’s only covered bridge and one of just 29 in the state. Constructed as a wood-frame Burr Truss bridge, it measures 42 feet long and 16 feet wide. Its vertical board siding and gable roof give it the traditional appearance associated with practical late 19th-century covered bridge design. Its importance as a well-preserved example of this bridge type was recognized when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
