Mount Hardison is a 6,145-foot mountain in the eastern Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and the thirteenth-highest summit in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Named for James Archibald Hardison, an original member of the North Carolina State Park Commission, it reflects not only the region’s landscape but also the park-era history of the Smokies. The mountain links one of the range’s high peaks with the people involved in protecting this part of the southern Appalachians.
