Harrington Beach State Park is a 715-acre Wisconsin state park on Lake Michigan in the Town of Belgium, known for its mile-long beach, Quarry Lake, and a white cedar swamp formed around a former stone quarry. The land began as an industrial site, with a dolomite quarry operating from the 1890s to 1925 and the company town of Stonehaven beside it from 1901 to 1925, populated largely by immigrants from Luxembourg, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and Italy. Since Wisconsin began assembling the park in 1968, it has become a major recreational destination that blends lakeshore scenery, camping, trails, fishing, and surviving traces of its quarrying past.
