Adams Mountain
Nature
Adams Mountain, also called Adams Knob, is a 2,490-foot peak near Collettsville in western North Carolina, entirely within Pisgah National Forest. Rising in a rugged setting of ridges, coves, and steep stream valleys, it forms part of the eastern rim of Wilson Creek Gorge. Small streams on its slopes drain into Wilson Creek on their way to the Catawba River. Its proximity to Brown Mountain Ridge also links the area to the long-standing regional folklore of the unexplained Brown Mountain Lights.
