Meaher State Park is a public recreation area on Big Island at the north end of Mobile Bay in Spanish Fort, Alabama, where Mobile Bay meets the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta. Opened in 1989 on land donated by Augustine Meaher, it occupies 1,327 acres of estuarine wetlands along Ducker Bay. The park’s chief significance lies in its setting within one of the Gulf Coast’s most important wetland systems, with facilities such as a wetland boardwalk, boat ramp, kayak launch, fishing pier, cabins, campsites, and picnic area supporting both day visits and overnight stays. Augustine Meaher descended from Timothy Meaher, associated with the 1860 illegal Clotilda smuggling voyage into Mobile Bay.
