This historic adobe property in Trinidad, Colorado, was built in 1869 or 1870 for Santa Fe Trail entrepreneur John Hough and later became the home of rancher and businessman Felipe Baca and his wife, Dolores. Purchased in a notable exchange involving 22,000 pounds of wool, it reflects the trade, ranching, and trail-based economy that shaped southern Colorado in the late 19th century. The two-story, 10-room house and its 160-foot adobe outbuilding with 12 rooms formed both a family residence and a working compound for ranch hands and visitors. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, it preserves adobe traditions and Trinidad’s early commercial history.
