Theophilus Lambert Ashbaugh served in the Civil War as a volunteer in Company K of the 102 Illinois Infantry and in 1868 became the first physician of the Village of Moundville. Pauline Hardy Ashbaugh, known as "Aunt Jennie," lived from 1846 to 1936.
