Part of the Youngs Hope Plantation granted by Gov. Andros of New York in 1675, this land was partly purchased by Peter Marsh, who built the Homestead in 1743. From 1871 William A. Dodd and his heirs owned and farmed it. In 1929 W. S. Corkran acquired it and during three decades transformed it into a residential community of abiding beauty.
