Land for Hurd Park was donated in 1911 by John Hurd of a local founding family. The park has long been known for its cherry blossoms and the only World War I "Spirit of the American Doughboy" statue by noted sculptor E. M. Viquesney in Morris County. It was dedicated in 1922, restored, and rededicated in 2001.
