Camp Laurel Hill was a fortified camp occupied by Confederates under Brig. Gen. Robert S. Garnett from June 16 to July 12, 1861. Sharp skirmishes took place there from July 7 to 11. Garnett retreated early in the morning of July 12 after the Rich Mountain defeat.
