Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned a nation in which his four little children would one day be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. He recalled that the community in which he was born was quite ordinary in terms of social status, that no one had attained any great wealth, that it was a wholesome community, and that most of its neighbors were deeply religious.
