Thompson Observatory was Beloit College’s astronomical observatory in Beloit, Wisconsin. Built in 1968 to replace the older Smith Observatory from the 1880s, it was named for Alfred S. Thompson, a member of the college’s class of 1892. Its principal instrument was a 22-inch reflecting telescope. The observatory served the college until 2008–2009, when the telescope was removed during the demolition of Chamberlin Hall as the site was cleared for the new Center for the Sciences.
