The Bird Dog Foundation, Inc. was incorporated on May 27, 1988, and under its aegis facilities were provided for the National Bird Dog Museum, dedicated February 16, 1991; the Field Trial Hall of Fame, dedicated September 24, 1994; the Wildlife Heritage Center, dedicated September 20, 1996; and the National Retriever Museum, dedicated February 7, 2004, creating a grand sporting dog center. Its founders were L. Wilson Dunn, Captain Garette E. Lockee, Thomas W. Faller, Bernard J. Matthys, and John S. O'Neall, Jr.
