About two miles north of Ash Grove, Missouri, this protected historic property preserves the homestead built in 1837 by Nathan Boone, the youngest child of Daniel Boone, and reflects Boone family life on the Missouri frontier. Its centerpiece, the Nathan Boone House, is a one-and-a-half-story saddle-bag pioneer log house built of hand-hewn oak logs on a stone foundation, representing early settlement construction. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, and the state historic site was established in 1991. The property today includes the house, cemetery, and an interpretive trail connecting the homestead to its broader landscape and history.
