The Fletcher Site is a Native American cemetery and archaeological site on the west bank of the Saginaw River near Saginaw Bay in Bay City, Michigan. Although the surrounding area may have been occupied as early as the Early Woodland period, the cemetery dates to the mid-1700s, when Odawa and Ojibwe people lived around Saginaw Bay and a village stood at the burial ground. Excavations after its discovery in 1967 uncovered 93 individuals in 85 grave sites, with burials placed in wooden boxes and accompanied by European trade goods. The site is important evidence of Indigenous life and contact-era exchange along the lower Saginaw River in the eighteenth century.
