Dannebod
History
2
One of the first white children born in Brookville Township or the surrounding area, named Minnesota by patriotic parents, is buried at Dannebod Cemetery. The cemetery was established in 1876, but early settlers in the area did not have a church building until Fredsminde Church was constructed on the cemetery grounds in 1889. A monument marks the place where the church stood until it was moved in 1961. Since the early days, when volunteers cared for the cemetery, memorial funds have been donated for the maintenance of this quiet, beautiful setting.
