Number 736 was built in 1913 by American Locomotive Co. at an original cost of $24,587.00. The engine and tender weighed 493,570 pounds, produced a tractive effort of 36,833 pounds, carried 12,000 gallons of water and 17 1/2 tons of coal, and could reach a maximum speed of over 100 miles per hour. In service it traveled 2,896,000 miles. The steam locomotive was donated to the City of Appleton by Soo Line Railroad in 1959, and the fence and installation were donated by John M. Balliet.
