Located on the historic route taken by General George Washington to Annapolis to resign his commission, St. Paul's Anglican Chapel was built in 1861 as a chapel of ease in the Gothic Revival board and batten design of the noted architect Richard Upjohn, first President of the American Institute of Architects. St. Paul's was entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
