Purse State Park was a Maryland state park on the Potomac River in Charles County that was later absorbed into the 1,365-acre Nanjemoy Wildlife Management Area and is now known as the Purse Area. At the southern end of the wildlife management area, along the beaches of Wades Bay, it became especially known for fossil hunting. Shoreline finds have included shark teeth and Cibicides, giving the former park significance as a notable fossil site in southern Maryland.
