CONRAIL caboose #21024 is an N7B series caboose built by the New York Central Dispatch Shops, one of 100 made and numbered 21000 through 21099. It was the 25th built in 1998 [sic]. Its dimensions are 27 feet 7½ inches long, 10 feet 7 1/4 inches wide, and 11 feet 9 5/8 inches high, and it weighs 48,600 pounds. It was a crewed North American railcar coupled to the end of a train, providing shelter for the flagman and rear brakeman as they watched for shifting loads, assisted in switching, and looked for damage to equipment and overheated axles.
