Kieffer Log Cabin
History
3
The Kieffer Log Cabin is a typical early nineteenth century one-room family dwelling built of logs, where all family activities took place within a single space. Parents usually slept on the ground floor while children bedded in the loft above, and the fireplace provided heat and a place for food preparation. Its furniture, including a rope bed, pie safe, dry sink, and spinning wheel, is from the eighteen forties period. The log house was originally located in Henry County near McClure, Ohio.
