Neir's is one of America's oldest and most historic continuously operating taverns. Founded in 1829, it retains much of its historical character, including a 150-year-old mahogany bar and a tap system that still uses ice to serve very cold beer. It became famous as the bar where the classic movie Goodfellas was filmed, and it is also associated with other films such as Tower Heist. It is also known as the place where Mae West first performed. The site was also known as Union Course, with the Blue Pump Room opening in 1855, being renamed for the racetrack, serving as a hotel theater, later hosting Mae West and the filming of Goodfellas, and then being renamed Niers.
