History
2
Possibly the oldest remaining structure in Gaston County, the Hoyle Family House stands on the site where Peiter Heyl was granted a land patent in May 1754. It features a rare corner post log construction and is the site of Hoylesville, the first Federal post office in present day Gaston County. It was the home of "Rich" Andrew Hoyle, a political, economic, and religious leader, and was purchased by the Hoyle Family Homestead Association in 1991.
