Florewood State Park, on the western edge of Greenwood, Mississippi, began in 1973 when the Moor family deeded the property to the state as a living historical plantation. Though still a state park in name, it is operated by the Leflore County Board of Supervisors and is now used chiefly for public fishing on Saturdays. Its later history was uncertain: Mississippi lawmakers authorized its disposal in 2005, and the property was offered at auction, but it remained available for day use and was leased to Leflore County in 2007. More recently, it served as a film location and its lake reopened for public fishing in 2021.
