Bent Creek Baptist Church was established here in 1881 by part of the minority of the Bent Creek Church of 1785. Cedar Hill Church merged with it in 1887. In 1888, its name was changed to Catherine Nenney Memorial in honor of Catherine Nenney Graham, wife of Hugh Graham, a wealthy landowner and legislator, and a descendant of Samuel Doak.
