The Beaverdam site currently has two mounds, although there may originally have been more. Mound A has eroded over time and is now 11 feet tall; early 20th-century accounts describe it as rectangular in shape with a two-tiered platform. Mound B is now about two feet high. Excavations in 2013 indicate that Mound A was built in multiple stages during the Mississippi Period, ca. AD 1200-1600.
