Dodger Stadium is the only Major League Baseball stadium since 1923 to be conceived, constructed and financed by private proprietorship. Ground breaking took place September 17, 1959. The opening game was held April 10, 1962. It was dedicated April 12, 1962 to the enjoyment of the loyal fans whose unprecedented support and patience was worthy of the effort.
