History

President Harry S Truman led America from its traditional isolationism into an age of international involvement, and despite his power, he never forgot his origins. Visitors can experience the surroundings he knew as a young man of modest ambition, through his political career, and during his final years as a former president. On the western edge of Missouri, the area experiences all four seasons, with changeable early spring weather, warm summers with periods of high heat and humidity, generally mild falls with sunny days and cool nights, and winters that can be cold, with an average January low of 21 degrees, about 37 inches of rain each year, and around 18 inches of snow.
