LSU won its fourth NCAA title when the Tigers defeated Alabama 13-6 in the College World Series final. LSU became the first school to win back-to-back national championships since Stanford in 1987-88. The Tigers finished the year with a 57-13 record while winning the SEC title and setting the league record for most single-season victories. LSU also set the NCAA record for single-season home runs with 188, and the Tigers hit at least one home run in each of their 70 games during the regular season. LSU joined Southern California, which won six titles in the 1970s, as the only other school to win four College World Series crowns in one decade.
